Faro Futuro pays special attention to the technological needs of coworkers (professionals, freelancers, start-ups, corporate teams) who carry out their activities with the aid of IT tools.

All workstations are equipped with a high-performance and stable Internet connection that supports, without bandwidth or security problems, activities such as audio e video conferences. In addition, for coworkers with special digital needs, there are customised services ranging, by way of example, from the activation of dedicated data transmission bands, to connections with external corporate systems and networks, to audio and video conferencing with room systems, and even to hosting third-party server systems (Housing) appropriately configured in its own infrastructure.

The efficiency of the services is guaranteed by a ICT infrastructure designed and built with high reliability standards and architectures to safeguard service continuity and security.

Faro Futuro's ICT infrastructure consists mainly of:

SISTEMISTICA

Systems governing the entire infrastructure, configured with central servers replicated on two nodes so as to guarantee the availability of ICT services even in the event of the degradation of one of the two nodes

The technological infrastructure of Faro Futuro

The Technological Infrastructure of Faro Futuro is centrally governed by a Cluster (set of systems) high-reliability with two mirrored processing nodes and realised with the aggregation of HP Enterprise servers. This architecture, appropriately virtualised, implements the load balancing of systems and guarantees the continuity of services in the event of failure of one of the two nodes.

Seven are instantiated on each node VM (Virtual Machine) each dedicated to the systems governing the infrastructure components:

  • Server for centralised management of ESXi nodes
  • Server for centralised management of Windows user access, DNS server
  • Windows Centralised User Access Management Server, Replication DNS Server, File Server
  • Server for centralised control of the Wi-Fi infrastructure
  • Server for centralised UPS management
  • Backup Management Server
  • Telephone switchboard server

The Cluster is also equipped with:

  • two systems Synology NAS (intelligent storage device for data, images, etc. connected to the network) with a number of hard disks that can be scaled as required.

UPSs that provide the necessary power supply in the event of a power failure to central system racks and network cabinets.

NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

Based on the structured connection of all workstations and an enhanced wifi link with 18 repeaters, network control, security and management is provided by control systems (Firewall), also replicated on two nodes.

Network Technology

Faro Futuro's entire building is cabled with a structured network system supporting data transmission, voice and video signals. The architecture is star-shaped with connection distribution points on several floors of the building. The distribution points are connected by backbones in Cat.6 (1Gbps), and each consists of standard cabinets housing the network equipment: Patch Panels and Switches. Each workstation is served by one or more cables, laid in special ducts for connection to the Internet and/or IP telephony.

Internet connectivity is provided by a symmetrical primary connection in NGN FIBRE at 500 Mbps (PCR/MCR band) which is complemented by a second FTTS VDSL 100/30M backup line.

Networking infrastructure is managed by the Firewall “Fortinet FortiGate 100F” which, in addition to guaranteeing high levels of data transmission security, allow rapid configuration or reconfiguration of signal distribution (data, speech, video) within the building as required.

Firewalls are also configured in active-active clusters to ensure: load balancing between network nodes and node redundancy

Through firewalls on every connection to the Internet, the UTM filters: Web filtering, Application Control, Antivirus, SSL inspection.

These filters ensure security when surfing the Internet by filtering and protecting clients from malicious sites and unwanted applications. Google search results are also filtered in advance by category, in order not to show unsuitable categories through the SafeSearch function. All this in order to guarantee significant levels of security and protection of the data processed by coworkers on their own systems.

Traffic shapers“ are also configured to allow a precise allocation of the bandwidth currently available to prevent peaks in network utilisation from penalising users or categories of critical services (e.g. videoconferencing, etc.).

In addition to the wired network installation, the Faro Futuro building is equipped with a Wi-Fi infrastructure consisting of No. 18 access points, dual radio 2.4/5Ghz brand EnGenius, distributed and installed on the different floors and managed centrally via the “EnGenius ezMaster” system residing on the central infrastructure.

Through these network facilities, it is possible to offer, at the coworkers' request, dedicated data transmission bands and VPN (remote access or site-to-site) connections to external third-party systems or networks.

Faro Futuro's entire infrastructure can host and configure its own coworker's servers (Housing service) on request, possibly reserving dedicated portions of bandwidth for access to these systems.

VOIP SWITCHBOARD

VoIP switchboard, with ten external lines, also protected by firewalls, capable of managing up to 1000 extensions.

AVAYA SPACES ROOM SYSTEM

A videoconferencing system based on the Avaya Spaces platform integrated with the Avaya Scopia Room System for events requiring large-scale conferences and multimedia support; Faro Futuro's conference room is equipped with on-premise hardware featuring a high-definition large-screen projector, microphones, cameras, speakers with Hi-Fi speakers and a stable, dedicated Internet connection.

Technology for Audio and Videoconferencing Services

Faro Futuro's videoconferencing services are provided with the Avaya Spaces platform that can be integrated with the Hall System Avaya Scopia for events requiring large-scale conferences and multimedia support. To this end, Faro Futuro's conference room is equipped with on-premise hardware including a high-definition large-screen projector, microphones, cameras, speakers and a stable, dedicated Internet connection.

The Avaya Spaces sw platform is a cloud application for meetings and team collaboration that integrates voice, video, tasks, content sharing and more into a single application accessible from any device and any location

This platform allows you to organise virtual rooms called “Space”, in which you can perform the following activities:

  • Group chat between participants with the possibility of sharing files
  • Posts visible to all participants in the room
  • Allocation of activities among room participants
  • Video and Audio Conferences (up to 500 participants)

The system is accessible from different platforms such as:

  • RTC Web Protocol (Google Chrome or Firefox)
  • Native application for iOS and Android
  • Avaya Scopia room system
  • SIP call (audio only)

Some additional functions made available during the conference are:

  • Screen Sharing (only available from PC or Mac)
  • Both public and private real-time chat with individual participants
  • Conference registration
  • File Sharing

The on-premise room hardware system is available on the 4th floor in the conference room. The Avaya Scopia system enables video conferencing with high video and audio quality thanks to the two wide-angle cameras that provide 12x optical zoom and 1080p 60 fps video quality and the two microphones with radial coverage of up to 3 metres

The system is controlled via a physical remote control or via the Avaya Vantage device with the “Avaya Collaboration Control” application.

The two cameras are of the PTZ type that can be controlled either by remote control or by application via a joystick (physical or virtual) and the use of definable framing presets.

For audio delivery, the system is connected to the audio system consisting of:

  • Bose speakers
  • Mixer
  • Amplifier

For audio conferences in the “Suite il Faro” meeting room, an Android desktop phone is available, with a touchscreen interface optimised for audio conferences of up to 5 participants and equipped with an integrated 3-microphone system with radial coverage of up to 6m and background noise reduction.

SMART TV

Smart TVs connected to the general network

A connectable smart TV is available in each meeting room:

  • to the PC for content sharing
  • to the video system of the conference room in the event of a request for the on-site extension of additional participants to the organised event.

GSM EXPANSORS

GSM expanders for better mobile network reception in less exposed environments.

All of Faro Futuro's technological complexity and articulation is totally transparent to the “coworker” end user, as configurations, activations and management of services are carried out by Faro Futuro's in-house Specialist Support.

Only for services requiring interfacing with external, non-public systems (connection to company servers and management of systems in Housing) is technical collaboration required in the activation phase only.

Faro Futuro's ICT Specialist Support, upon request, offers coworkers both first- and second-level support services, the latter for problems requiring specialised networking and server system skills.
